The year of the Metal Ox is here and this hotel is dishing up Chinese fare for all the family to enjoy.
The Chinese New Year is almost here and the Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi is inviting you to celebrate by tucking into fabulous fare from its family-style set menu at a two-week long series of festivities celebrating the year Year of the Metal Ox.
The festivities get into the swing on 11 Februray and go right through to 26 February.
The award-winning Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace, will serve an authentic Cantonese dinner as a family reunion experience, reflecting the original mainland culture.
The Ox-picious dinner menu features Deep Fried Crispy Beef Wonton with Chilli Vinegar dressing, Rose Flavoured Boiled Chicken with “Sakura” salad and Kumquat dipping sauce, Charcoal Grilled Beef Short Ribs, Clay Pot Cooked Sea Bass Fillet with Sweet Basil and Fried Crushed Garlic and Boiled Sesame Dumplings in Sweet White Tremella Mushroom Soup.
During the two weeks of Chinese New year celebrations, guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the daily Kung Fu Tea Master performance at 1.38 pm and 8.38 pm, with the added surprise of an astonishing martial arts tea pouring show based on a traditional Chinese tea ceremony that comes from iconic Chinese folk culture.
The mask-changing act is not to be missed and is a fascinating performance with its roots in the Sichuan opera.
The event takes place daily at 2:08 p.m. and 9:38 p.m. This highly unique and enthralling act involves a performer in brightly coloured costume changing masks – which depict characters from the opera, almost instantaneously to fast-paced, intense music.
The technique behind the lightning-fast mask changes is a closely guarded secret, and the mystery of it adds to the excitement of the show.
The dinner set menu is priced at AED 248 per person. Children aged between 6-12 years old can enjoy the occasion for half-price, while younger children dine for free. An A La Carte menu is also available.
