Tasting Naples in Abu Dhabi with Pizza Di Rocco

Pizzas, salads, desserts and more in Etihad Plaza.

Hands up, who loves pizza?

Triangles of joy that are lathered with moreish melted cheese, sweet tomato sauce and your favourite toppings (pepperoni obvs) – does food bliss get any better than this?

And any gastronome in Abu Dhabi worth their dough will know that one of best purveyors of the art in the city, nay the entire UAE, is Pizza Di Rocco.

Team Yalla was craving some sumptuous slices of pie so we decided to head to the Khalifa City venue to get ourselves a bite of Naples.

Currently, the establishment in Etihad Plaza is exclusively takeaway but expansion plans will see the outlet transformed into an Italian-styled pizzeria with an outdoor terrace.

Replete with a Neopolitan-styled pizza oven, we know what our orders are going to be (Margherita and Divola) even though there are more than 26 pizzas on the menu, including a selection of veggie and vegan options.

If you are not in the mood for pizza (is this even possible?), then you can plump for a mountainous salad, lasagne or the palate pleasuring assortment of pasta dishes.

But before we tear into our pizzas, the anticipation of the feast ahead is heightened when light garlic bread squares are brought to the table with olive oil, garlic and cheese seasonings. They are gobbled up furiously and then, the main event arrives.

Two perfectly crafted and cooked pizzas that would lock any hunger up until the next day. Thin-crusted, well-bronzed and piled with oodles of cheese and our chosen toppings, leaves one very happy and full team.

If you have any space, satisfy the sugar receptors in your brain with a sweet treat courtesy of Monica Bakes and Cheesecake Lab.

As we managed to haul ourselves from our table with our food endorphins swimming around our brains, we can’t wait to be back for the official opening of the Pizza Di Rocco at Etihad Plaza as a restaurant.

Until then we will happily content ourselves with devouring those circles of happiness on our living room sofas.
