Another member of the highly specialised team is UAE-born Dr Sherif Ban, who has been practicing in his field for more than 19 years, specialising in hand and upper extremity surgery.
Not only does he have a history of excellence performing thousands of surgeries and working with reputable healthcare facilities in the Middle East, he is also a staff member of the Cairo University Orthopaedic Department and a faculty at the AO Foundation, UAE Chapter, as well as a regular speaker at the Orthopaedic Congress in the MENA Region.
Dr Sherif is one of the few surgeons who employs the technique of arthroscopy, which is a very key intervention that helps to treat fractures, ligament injuries and instabilities surrounding joints.
Well known as a technique for treating shoulders, arthroscopy is not commonly used in treating wrists and ankles yet Dr Sherif carries out this unique procedure, which enables proper diagnoses and to properly treat patients who have chronic wrist pains and neglected injuries, and so on.
The treatment causes minimum scarring, pain and with faster rehabilitation to return to normal life and sport once again. Dr Sherif also performs elbow surgery, as well as numerous ligament reconstructions, prosthetic replacements around the elbow, which is also an uncommon service in the Middle East.
Extremely patient-centred and passionate about his field, Dr Philippe Neyret specialises in degenerative knees and prostheses and knee surgery (ligaments, meniscus, patella, cartilage). He has outstanding, world-renowned experience in his field and has operated on more than 20,000 knees.
Trained in France and with almost 30 years as a professor at the Université de Lyon, Dr Philippe is one of Reem Hospital’s Master Surgeons. Performing surgery for those with sports injuries, Dr Philippe’s focus is on degenerative knee issues, such as arthritis, knee prostheses and osteotomies, as well as performing frequent and successful forms of surgery.Dr Philippe’s expertise led him to becoming the President of the prestigious International Society of Knee Arthroscopy and Orthopaedics Sports Medicine from 2015-2017, the President of EFORT from 2019-2020, as well as President of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Study Group.
Since 1987, he has actively participated in the “Journ es Lyonnaises de Chirurgie du Genou” in Lyon, Tunisia, Brazil, Algeria and Morocco, has held prominent positions as Chief Resident, Fellow, Head of Department, and Professor, and has published more than 500 peer-reviewed articles in his field and 200 between PubMed and books.
