Brighton College rated ‘Outstanding’ by Abu Dhabi Department of Education & Knowledge
Brighton College Abu Dhabi celebrates being awarded the highest rating possible by ADEK. With its sister campus Brighton College – Al Ain also rated ‘Outstanding’, this rating firmly establishes the school’s leading positions in the Emirates.
The report indicated that in every one of ADEK’s six performance standards – Students’ Achievement; Students’ Personal and Social Development; Teaching and Assessment, Curriculum; Protection, Care, Guidance and Support; and Leadership and Management – Brighton College Abu Dhabi was graded ‘Outstanding.’ The ADEK report highlighted the College’s exceptional performance stating “the school provides a rich curriculum which is broad and balanced and exceeds statutory requirements. The curriculum provides an excellent choice of learning pathways and strongly promotes students’ creativity and innovation skills.” This is in line with the aim of the partnership of Brighton College UK and Bloom Education to provide pupils with academic excellence and a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each child.
The Head Master, Simon Corns, commented that the result, while not unexpected given the progress that has been made at Brighton College since the last inspection, was a great vindication of all the hard work staff, pupils and parents put in, on a daily basis, to ensure our ongoing success. This is reflected in first-class results and university destinations, of course but also in the sheer quality of character displayed by our pupils, of whom we are immensely proud. It was a very rigorous but fair and intelligent inspection which saw huge amounts of evidence of our outstanding educational practice.
This is aligned with the inspectors’ comments on pupils’ personal and social development, and their innovation skills; and teaching and assessment. ‘Students’ social responsibility is outstanding. Their innovation skills both in, and outside of lessons, are excellent. Students are independent and creative learners’ and ‘teachers have a highly secure understanding of students’ capabilities. They provide excellent support and guidance to help students improve.’
