And, because there are all kinds of families, the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi has created a lineup of events for all sorts of folks, whether your passions lie on the water, taking in art, or breaking bread with family and friends in a casual dining atmosphere.
Here are a few of our top picks for Autumn.
Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition
Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) runs from 2-6 October. This is the spot where you can learn about UAE culture, check out sporting and camping equipment, get up close with a falcon, or take in a saluki dog show. The exhibition is great fun and promises exciting surprises around every corner of its vast exhibition hall.
Boating Show
Another one for the sporting types is the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show which runs from 17-20 October. If you prefer sea legs to land lubbing, you may find nirvana in this exhibition as it runs the gamut from canoes and kayaks to mega yachts and local dhows. Learn history or explore the lifestyles of the rich and famous in one weekend’s exhibition.
Art and Cultural Events
Culture vultures will go gaga in November as Abu Dhabi Art kicks off and showcases the many splendors of the local art season from 14-17 November on Saadiyat Island. There are art events to please everyone from serious collectors to creative dabblers all weekend long spread out around the island and even spilling over into town.
Those who enjoy classical music will love the Abu Dhabi Classics Season. Every year, famed international acts and orchestras are imported to woo Abu Dhabi’s culture-loving community with the sounds of symphonies from October through April every year.
High Octane Racing
From 22-26 November, adrenaline junkies will be treated to both Formula 2 Powerboating along the Corniche and Formula 1 racing at Yas Marina. There are activities for the young and old at both the events so bring your brood if they love to watch things to that go fast!
