Busy women in the UAE are often worrying about the health of the rest of the family and often forget that they also need to look after themselves.
Women’s health week takes place on May 14-16 and is just the reminder you may need to make a check list of important behaviours to ensure great health!
Here’s some questions for you:
Do you attend all your preventive screenings?
Are you up to date with your PAP smear (should be done every 3 years)?
Your mammogram (every 3 years in over 50’s)?
A diabetes screening?
Have you had a check of your cholesterol and your blood pressure?
Do you keep active?
Are you struggling with niggling injuries that are stopping you from enjoying more sport and activity?
Do you eat a healthy diet?
Are you ensuring you eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, 2 portions of dairy (for your bones) and avoiding processed foods and red meats?
Is your body weight in the healthy range?
Do you pay attention to your mental health? Being careful to get enough sleep and manage life’s stresses?
Do you take care to avoid unhealthy behaviours like smoking and drinking too much alcohol (less than 10 units a week)?
And have you thought about avoiding texting at the wheel, always wearing your seatbelt, and using a helmet when out cycling?
If you think the above is a lot to manage on your own, why not see your friendly family doctor?
At King’s College Hospital London, Medical and Surgical Centre, Abu Dhabi the staff provide an all in one Women’s Health Check – specially designed for women.
With relevant and evidence based tests, (and no un-necessary investigations), you will have total peace of mind. The clinic’s UK trained family doctors will treat any issues or injuries and give you all the advice you need to live a happy healthy life.
