Happening this weekend: Build your own Pinhole Camera at Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Photography Masterclass

The photography masterclass at Louvre Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Manarat Al Saadiyat (MAS) Photography Studio, will take place over two days, 5-6 July, between Louvre Abu Dhabi and MAS Photography Studio.
In the first day, participants will explore the first photography exhibition held at Louvre Abu Dhabi, Photographs: An Early Album of the World, where they will discover pre-digital photographic techniques, and build a simple pinhole camera to experiment with composition, space and light at the museum.
For the second day, participants will head to MAS Photography Studio, where they will develop their film using techniques discovered by the first photographers.
The masterclass is part of the Photographs: An Early Album of the World exhibition programming. It is suitable for those who are 16 years old and above, the classes run from 3 – 6 pm each day and costs AED 168 per participant.
A reduced rate of AED 105 is available for participants between the ages of 16 – 22 and Art Club members.

Summer Camp kicks off at Louvre Abu Dhabi with the Art Explorers Camp for teenagers
Four camps from 7 – 25 July
Art Explorers Summer Camp is a specially designed educational programme for children and teenagers, allowing participants to explore the museum’s extensive collection and learn about the world’s cultures and history in interacting with the art on show.
Enjoy 4 fun days for AED 1,000 or a full day for AED 280, including lunch and a snack. Prices exclude 5% VAT.
Art Explorers for teenagers (ages 12-16)
7 – 11 July and 14 – 18 July (except Mondays) at 9:00-5:00pm
Teenagers will discover the museum, exploring artworks and stories through interactive discovery games, art workshops, films and hands-on activities inside the galleries. A guide will bring to life the artworks in the museum. Participants can then share their ideas, designs and stories with their fellow Art Explorers, document their adventures through Ancient Egypt, Africa and across Europe in their travel scrapbook and create their very own masterpiece.
Art Explorers for children (ages 6-11)
14 – 18 July and 21 – 25 July (except Mondays) at 9:00-5:00pm
Children will embark on a creative journey inside the galleries and the Children’s Museum. The programme offers hands-on activities that bring the collection to life through workshops, film and interactive games. Children will explore objects and characters in artworks, then create their own using their imagination. They will enjoy making 3D objects, drawing, exploring, playing, scrapbook-making and storytelling with other Art Explorers.

Children’s Museum A Costume Adventure, an interactive adventure game concept, is opening soon

Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Children’s Museum A Costume Adventure is an interactive adventure game concept inspired by the clothing portrayed in artworks from the museum’s permanent galleries.
The adventure is comprised of multiple stages, each presenting a unique challenge for children aged 4 – 10 to complete through interactive digital displays. Open from 9 July 2019 through 31 May 2020, the interactive adventure combines education and entertainment, encouraging children and families to discover Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection through immersive multimedia, sensory and physical experiences.
For children aged 3 years old and below, Children’s Museum offers a specialised Toddlers’ Space, with simplified construction games.
Entrance to the Children’s Museum is free with the museum’s admission ticket (AED 63). Museum’s admission is free for children under the age of 13.
Cinem’Art at Louvre Abu Dhabi

The second season of Cinem’Art brings films that are inspired by artworks at Louvre Abu Dhabi through classic and new movies.

Last chance to see! Photographs: An early album of the world
Runs daily during museum opening hours, through 13 July
More than 250 of the earliest photographs ever seen of the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the American continents. Believed to be the time of authentic representations of the world, the exhibition explores how nationality, geography, culture, regional politics and the continual improvement of photography techniques influenced both the photographers and these early images.
The exhibition is in collaboration with musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac and Agence France-Muséums, and sponsored by the Bank of Sharjah.
Entrance is included as part of the museum general admission ticket – 63 AED (including 5% VAT). Admission is free for children under 13.

Kayaking around Louvre Abu Dhabi
Every Friday and Saturday until 28 September 2019 |8am, 9:30am, 4:30pm and 6pm | 6+ |AED120 + VAT per person
Enjoy the museum from the stillness of the Arabian Sea throughout the summer! Take a tour on a kayak and learn all about the exquisite architecture, from a unique perspective.
No prior experience is necessary. Tours last 60 minutes. Guests will be accompanied by professional instructors and given a safety and paddle briefing prior to the tour.
Children between the ages of 6 – 12 are to be accompanied by parents or guardians. Casual attire is recommended. Changing rooms are available near the kayaking information desks.
Payment can be made in cash or by credit card.
Visitor Information
Louvre Abu Dhabi hours are: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 10 am–8 pm; Thursday and Friday, 10 am–10 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays.
Last entries and ticket purchases end 30 minutes prior to closing. Special visitor hours will be in effect during some holidays and Ramadan.
General admission tickets are 63 AED (including VAT). Reduced access tickets are 31.5 AED (including VAT) for visitors aged 13-22, UAE education professionals, and members of the military.
Admission is free for members of the museum’s loyalty programme, children under the age of 13, ICOM or ICOMOS members, journalists and visitors with special needs and their companions.
