After much anticipation, the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl opened its doors last month, and with it introduced us all to their Italian Trattoria, Verso. Of course, it goes without saying that we are well and truly spoilt for your choice when it comes to dining in the Capital, but Verso is a really welcome addition to the sometimes-lacking family restaurant scene, serving hearty Italian favourites and decorated with cool ceramic tiles and colourful furnishings.
On the menu, you’ll find homemade sourdough pizzas, arancini, perfectly creamy risotto, melt-in-the-mouth lamb tagliatelle (shall we go on…), all made, of course, using fresh and authentic Italian ingredients. The open kitchen adds to the drama of the evening too, creating a lively atmosphere with a real buzz.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then you’ll love the dessert counter, with giant macarons and jars filled with jelly beans, truffles, and chocolates. There’s also fresh ice cream and a selection of traditional Italian desserts, including the already-famous Tiramisu.
One of the best things about Verso that makes it such a hot-spot for families is the value for money. The menu is really reasonably priced, with almost nothing on the menu reaching over AED 100.
The décor of the restaurant really reflects the Italian way of life- it’s bright, colourful, and makes you feel totally at home, and there is a real sense of the old and new coming together to create one lively and welcoming space; There are ornate ceramic tiles, rustic carts, and industrial-style shelves donning Italian cookbooks and retro trinkets.
Finally, to the terrace. You could easily miss this area of Verso during the summer months, but you absolutely shouldn’t. Overlooking the infinity pool and Corniche waters, the terrace is simply breath-taking, and definitely takes one of our top spots as a date night favourite without the kids!
