What is happening in Abu Dhabi?

The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021 begins today at Kaser Al Amwaj on the Abu Dhabi Corniche and will continue throughout the weekend until a champion is crowned at 9pm on Saturday evening. 

What form of basketball is this?

The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021 sees games of three-on-three take place on a half court with only one hoop. There is no in-game coaching and each match lasts for a lung busting 10 minutes with no interval. Should one side make it to the magic 21 point mark, they will be declared the winners. There is non-stop music and fan engagement throughout the action. 

How many teams are playing at the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021?

In total there are 14 teams taking part in tournament. There is a qualifying round that will see Utrecht of the Netherlands, Minakmai of Japan and Team Abu Dhabi battle it out for the last spot in Pool C. Each side will play each other once before the other already qualified teams join the basketball party. 

How did Team Abu Dhabi qualify for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021? 

Game Time Academy are representing Abu Dhabi at the tournament after winning the UAE community event, QUEST, which saw 48 local teams battle it out to represent the city at the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021.

Where are the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021 games being played in Abu Dhabi?

The games will be held in a purpose built basketball stadium at Kaser Al Amwaj on the Abu Dhabi Corniche opposite the Marina Mall.

How many games will be played during the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021?

There will be 22 games played throughout the weekend in Abu Dhabi. Pool games will be run off on Friday (29 October) before the business end of the tournament begins on Saturday with the quarter-final, semi-final and grand final being played.  

Is this the first time the FIBA 3×3 World Tour has been hosted in Abu Dhabi.

No. The event is returning after a five-year hiatus when the World Tour Finals for 2015 and 2016 were hosted in the capital.

Who are the players to watch out for at the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021? 

The tournament features some of the best basketball players on the planet including Olympic gold, silver and bronze medalists. Team Riga will be side to watch with their squad of Agnis Čavars, Edgars Krumins, Nauris Miezis and Karlis Lasmanis all taking home gold from the Tokyo Olympics. Ub of Serbia will also be a side to watch for with two title wins this calendar year. 

Where else has the FIBA 3×3 World Tour visited in 2021? 

The Abu Dhabi leg of the tournament is the seventh edition of the 2021 FBA 3×3 World Tour having previously stopped over in Doha (Qatar), Lausanne (Switzerland), Debrecen (Hungary), Montreal (Canada) and Prague (Czech Republic). After Abu Dhabi, there are two more legs in Mexico City on 6 to 7 November and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on 17 to 18 December.

Do we need an Al Hosn pass to attend?

Anyone over the age of 16 looking to attend a FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters 2021 must show a green pass on their Al Hosn app as well as a negative PCR test result taken in the last 48 hours. Face masks are mandatory for everyone.
