If you enjoy a dance performance that leaves you thinking, the Art Center at NYUAD is kicking off its season with the world premiere of Ansaf – Sima Dance Company.
As a prelude to the season, The Arts Center has commissioned a world premiere produced by Sima Dance Company, Dubai’s leading contemporary dance company. Ansaf, a new work by acclaimed Syrian born-and-raised Palestinian choreographer Alaa Krimed, is inspired by the writings of Canadian philosopher Alan Deneault and explores the relationship of consumerism and populism with critical thinking and the role of excellence in serving the public good. Ansaf will be presented on August 23-24 at 8 pm in The Black Box.
This new work for a company of 10 dancers, set to an original score by the choreographer, is inspired by the writings of Canadian philosopher Alan Deneault about the challenge of mediocrity and its impact on language, ideas, art, culture, and economy. The piece explores the relationship of consumerism and populism with critical thinking and the role of excellence in serving the public good.
