There’s been some groundbreaking work going on in Abu Dhabi, which has been two years in the making.
A new film just hit the silver screen in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago and although it is not a Hollywood Blockbuster, it is garnering equally as much attention.
Naturally – like all good films – there are many stars playing various roles, but it is ‘The Turtles of Al Dhafra’ that have landed the leading role, and quite rightly too.
The film in question is Wild Abu Dhabi: The Turtles of Al Dhafra, which debuted on Tuesday, 26 January, at VOX Cinemas at Yas Mall.
And Team Yalla was there, along with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), who produced the fascinating feature.
Now, the docufilm is set to be broadcast on national TV in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.
Wild lovers you can tune in to watch this magnificent journey at the following times, on the following channels.
Thursday 18 February
Abu Dhabi TV at 4pm
Emarat TV at 2pm
Friday 19 February
Abu Dhabi TV at 6pm
Emarat TV at 4.30pm
The awe-inspiring documentary tracks the lifecycle of the critically endangered Hawksbills and the endangered giant Green Turtles, the two species out of the seven worldwide that are found here in Abu Dhabi.
This is something EAD has been undertaking for no less than a quarter of a century and the knowledge that the Agency and its partners have amassed over the decades is astonishing, to say the least.
It is something that is part of its mandate, which is dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and endangered species of all kinds in Abu Dhabi.
This is the fourth film that EAD has produced in the past four years – which include the award winning Zayed’s Antarctic Lights, which chronicles the adventures of the agencies Team Zayed to Antarctica in the Year of Zayed, with more in the pipeline.
