There’s a reason Italian food is universal: it’s filling comfort food, fresh, and vibrant, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a person who doesn’t love it. #YallaEats investigates BiCE’s new sharing menu!
Though it’s universally beloved, Italian restaurants can at times disappoint in the capital. Fortunately, this is not the case at BiCE Ristorante in Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. If feeling at home is a hallmark of Italian cuisine, BiCE does deliver with its new sharing menu, which invites diners to stay longer and linger over delightful Italian favourites.
Designed for sharing, BiCE’s dishes are served in generous portions and we recommend that you don’t order more than you could ingest. Ask your dedicated server for suggestions.
To begin our feast, we had the Antipasti Selection as an appetiser which was very filling for two people. This new addition to the menu comes with fried shrimps and zucchini, eggplant parmigiana, tomato bruschetta, rocket salad with parmesan, zucchini ribbons with mozzarella, and prosciutto. We especially enjoyed the succulent shrimps coated in a tasty crispy batter and the eggplant parmigiana which was a mouthwatering trifecta of tender, silky eggplant, warm sauce, and melty cheese! BiCE’s menu is filled with a dozen more of appetisers like this that are great for sharing – from grilled octopus, salmon carpaccio, to a selection of Italian beef cold cuts, take your pick!
For mains, BiCE has added a few new rustic items for lovers of the country food. By focusing on different cooking techniques like the Sea Bass Cartoccio, Veal Saltimbocca or the whole Roasted Baby Chicken.
Since we love seafood and the classic pasta and risotto, we ordered the Lobster Linguine in shellfish sauce and the Seafood Risotto which we both shared. Both the linguine and risotto were cooked al dente and we enjoyed the delicate flavours of the fresh shellfish reminiscent of our gastronomic adventures along the coasts of Italy. The dishes were perfectly seasoned — just the right amount of saltiness. However, if you want an added oomph, the server is quick to grind pepper and salt on your plate. For a spicy kick, you may request for chilli flakes on the side just like I did. My companion is not fond of chilli so I didn’t request the food to be served spicy.
To conclude our hearty dinner, our knowledgeable waiter suggested the Vanilla Mascarpone Espuma Tart with fresh raspberries and pistachio and the Coconut panna cotta with caramelized pineapple and mango sorbet. These two heavenly desserts were as tasty as how they were beautifully presented – every bite was delizioso!
The staff at BiCE is a great example to all others in high end restaurants – genuinely caring, polite, and always on standby without being obtrusive. The crew looked after us admirably and ensured that our wine and water glasses were kept filled.
BiCE is very romantic but also group and family-friendly. It is equally an impressive place to take a date, family members visiting the city, or to bring the family on a whim. Outdoor seating by the pool when the weather is good or sitting inside the elegantly furnished restaurant are both great. If you dine in before sunset, take a seat on the terrace or by the window to enjoy great views of the swimming pool, sea, and the city skyline. BiCE’s inviting poolside terrace shines as the perfect place for a large party if you are looking for a place to bring a big group for a post summer reunion.
