The Lobby at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers is playing host to an extravaganza extraordinaire.
The perfect pastime of indulging in afternoon tea has gained unimaginable new heights as Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers sets the bar even higher for this quintessential English custom.
The hotel’s Lobby Lounge sets the scene for an afternoon with a difference and we promise that you’ll be in for a wonderous surprise on every level.
Ensconced at our table, Lobby Lounge is laid out before us, providing the perfect vantage point for people watching, which doesn’t last for long.
In between savouring a splendid spread of confit tuna, lemon infused crème fraiche with caviar pearls and black olive served on focaccia, and roasted angus beef with horseradish crème on an onion baguette, a story begins to unfold.
Aptly titled ‘Up in the Air’ circus afternoon tea, the lobby is suddenly filled with acrobatic performers and ballerinas, and props like pianos and one enormous helium balloon from which an acrobat dangles just feet above our sumptuous savouries.
Dancing chefs then take to the floor, not from the hotel’s kitchens, after all they’re too busy ensuring our plates are topped up with afternoon tea goodies.
These chefs are part of the enthralling entertainment featuring cast members from world known circus, the Russian Circus.
As we savour delicious sweet treats and sip on Earl Grey tea, the storytelling continues with ballerinas performing an excerpt from Swan Lake, as those just entering the lobby look on in awe.
It’s an amazing feat of logistics to have such a brilliant show, serve the best in afternoon tea while simultaneously receiving guests, but this is the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers and if they wanted to, they could effortlessly move mountains.
The afternoon tea and show, which is in partnership with Abu Dhabi Culinary Season, is a celebration of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee on 2 December.

The Up in the Air circus afternoon tea takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 8 December with shows starting at 1pm at and at 3.15pm for the first and second show respectively.
