Mandatory Covid test for all students returning to Abu Dhabi schools

Applies to those vaccinated and unvaccinated.

All private and charter school students, including students of determination, must get tested for Covid-19 before returning to physical school, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) announced.

This applies to vaccinated and unvaccinated students, including students of determination, all of whom will need to show a 14-day negative test result.

The same protocol applies to teachers, administrative staff and third-party contractors.

Free Covid tests will be provided to students aged above 12 years old and school staff at designated testing centres on a specific date for each school.

All private and charter schools have received a PCR testing schedule.

Parents may contact schools to obtain their school code, testing centre location and testing date as per the schedule provided by ADEK.

Alternatively, students above 12 years old and school staff can choose to get a PCR test at any private testing centre of their choice and at their own cost.

Students below 12 years of age and students of determination will not have to pay for their PCR test at any private or public testing centres across Abu Dhabi.

Students must present valid Emirates IDs and inform the medical staff at the centre that they are getting the back-to-school pre-entry test.

All students must have a valid 14-day negative PCR test result prior to their first day of physically attending school.

The 14-day test result must remain valid throughout the first month of their return to school.

The education authority said it will announce the routine PCR testing schedule and frequency for staff and students in due course.
