Etihad Airways gears up for F1 race

Black is the colour.

Abu Dhabi is revving itself for a roaring weekend of race action at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and to celebrate, Etihad Airways is gearing up with something new.

The airline’s cabin crew’s new uniforms will be modelled at the exclusive Paddock Club at Yas Marina Circuit on 12 December as the F1 season comes to an exciting crescendo.

Curated by Emirati designer, Yara Bin Shakar, the uniform is a sporty black jumpsuit featuring an asymmetrical wraparound belt, shaped and designed to represent the Formula 1 track at Yas Marina Circuit, with stitching on the belt that represents a take on traditional Emirati embroidery.

Black was selected as it is a timeless colour, and the details of the Etihad colour palette are represented in the embroidery of the belt.

The Grand Prix which will run from 9 to 12 December, is heading for an exciting finish with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton level on points going into Sunday’s decider.

The stands will boast 100 per cent capacity after the Abu Dhabi authorities gave the green light in November after a drop in positive Covid-19 cases in the country.

The event will also see the return of the Yasalam after-race concerts with Khalid, Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi and Foo Fighters taking to the stage.

All ticketholders must present a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of the event on their Al Hosn app to gain entry.
