Football fans of Abu Dhabi get out your diaries as the dates for the FIFA Club World Cup for 2021 have been confirmed.
The world best club sides will descend on the UAE’s capital between 3 to 12 February 2022 for the right call themselves Club World Cup champions.
The tournament was moved to the UAE back in October after original hosts Japan withdrew in September due to concerns over rising COVID-19 cases in the country.
It will be the fifth time Abu Dhabi will host the competition after previously being the scene for the 2009, 2010, 2017 and 2019 editions.
On those occasions Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid (twice) got their hands on the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy.
The 2021 edition will include Chelsea (Europe), Al Ahly of Egypt (Africa), and Auckland City (Oceania), Monterrey (North America), Al Hilal-Pohang (Asia) and Palmeiras (South America).
Jazira, holders of the Arabian Gulf League, will represent the host country and will be making their second appearance.
The draw for the tournament will take place today (29 November) in Zurich, Switzerland.
