Head for a slice of Italy in Abu Dhabi

A perfect place to get-together.

Have you ever walked into a joint and just known from the first ten seconds that you’re in for a good evening? Larte is that kind of place.

Wonderfully artsy (it is nestled at the back of the haven of Abu Dhabi Arts, Manarat Al Saadiyat), one may take a little longer than usual reaching their seat as plenty of rubbernecking is needed to take on all the artworks adorning the walls.

Even the furniture provides a great splash of colour and artistic vibes to the venue with white marble top tables and red, white and orange chairs.

Despite with so much going on, there is still a sense of minimalism and spaciousness inside and the outside terrace has touches of an Italian back garden, perfect for when the mercury levels are a bit lower on the thermometer.

It is a spot that should be on the list of every post work get-together group especially with a happy hour that sees 50 per cent discount on house drinks everyday from 4pm to 8pm.

But enough about the surroundings, Team Yalla was there for food and the opening evening of The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi Fall Season.

The food card has some tempting options to get the tickle the taste buds including Sicilian Arancini, Truffle Burger and a vast range of appetising pasta dishes.

But any Italian restaurant worth its dough can only be truly measured on its pizzas (or at least Team Yalla think so) and ergo it was a pizza fest at the table.

And we were not disappointed with pizzas crafted from the 250-year-old Neapolitan recipe and cooked over a wood fire in the dome oven outside, seemingly get tastier with every bite.

And one must highlight the complimentary bread that came toasted with bottles of an aromatic mix of oil and balsamic vinegar (how sophisticated). Truly worth a trip to the restaurant of its own accord

A visit to Larte will engage the eyes and the tongue and when we left for our show next door in the theatre, we were already planning our next gastronomic trip to a little slice of Italy in Abu Dhabi and of course, make you feel all rather cultural.
