For children and parents who love to read, the new Abu Dhabi Children’s Library is finally open, and offers three stories of fun and a wealth of words.
Families have been waiting with bated breath for the new Abu Dhabi Children’s Library to open, and the day finally arrived! Located in historic Al Hosn, in the heart of the capital, the Cultural Foundation’s new spaces include a 900-seat theatre, exhibition space, and the all-new and much anticipated Abu Dhabi Children’s Library.
The Library is just part of the Abu Dhabi Government’s strategy to empower youth through cultural education. The most advanced and immersive library for young people in the UAE encourages youth to read, learn, create, discover, and dream up the big ideas of the future by reading more books.
The Abu Dhabi Children’s Library offers three stories of over 35,000 amazing titles in many languages, including Arabic, English, and French with some in titles in Hindi, Spanish, Mandarin, and German. This entire city block brims with history, art, and—dare we say—a lot of fun! We suggest families check this spot out soon to enjoy the wealth of culture that the capital offers.
ART AT THE CULTURAL FOUNDATION
Until 15 December, the Cultural Foundation showcases the debut solo exhibition Najat Makki: Luminescence. Innovative and contemporary in nature, the exhibition is displayed throughout the Cultural Foundation’s main hall and ground floor spaces, highlighting Dr. Najat Makki’s experimental and open approach to various geographical and historic influences. The opening season also includes the first community exhibition, The Tribute: A dedication to Najat Makki, featuring the work of 19 Emirati artists who have been influenced by Makki and her dedication to the arts in the UAE.
The Cultural Foundation also celebrated the return of Al Marsam Al Hor, a dynamic new programme focused on artistic education, and launched Bait al Khatt (House of Calligraphy) – a space dedicated to the art of traditional Arabic calligraphy.
