Public holiday confirmed for October

Private sector holiday to be announced.

It’s the news all public sector workers have been waiting for – there will be a three day weekend this October to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed.

Announced by The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, Thursday 21 October will be a public holiday for Government employees.

Employees will then resume their duties on Sunday 24 October.

The birthday of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is observed on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.

Currently, there has been no announcement for private sector workers but it is expected that the confirmation will be revealed soon.

The next public holidays for the UAE will be for Commemoration Day (1 December) and National Day (2 December).
