Fire up your BBQ, The Rotana Smoke & Flames competition is here and is open to everybody across the UAE.
But will you be crowned the UAE’s Best Amateur BBQ Master?
Win this coveted title and you’ll be walking away with AED 10, 000 in cash, a Weber grill, a staycation at the luxurious Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, and your winning recipe will be listed on the food and beverage menus of Rotana’s participating outlets for a whole year!
There are even more prizes up for grabs…
- The first runner up will receive AED 5,000 and a Weber grill
- The second runner up will get AED 2,500 and a Weber grill
- The third runner up will get AED 2,500 and a Weber grill
There’s also fabulous prize waiting for those shortlisted too!
The competition is now live and submissions will close on 1 March 2021.
Here’s how to enter
For a chance to grab this coveted title, you must submit the following:
- Your favourite barbecue recipe
- A 60-second video on why YOU are the best for consideration while you actual prepare your recipe
- A picture of the final dish
And don’t forget if you are one of the 12 lucky shortlisted entrants, you also get to win a Weber grill and move into the semi-finals.
The semi-final events are set to take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Grand Finale

The luxurious Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas in Abu Dhabi is the location of the finals, which will be hosted by none other than the renowned Virgin Radio presenter Kris Fade.
The extravaganza will witness the contestants competing live, in a mini-market with “Butcher”; “Fisherman”; “Farmer” style set-up, with the winner selected based on the taste, creative presentation and novelty of the prepared dish.
The Judges
Four key judge will evaluate the final round:
- Hattem Mattar, world’s first Arab Pitmaster and owner of Mattar Farm
- Samantha Wood, founder of impartial restaurant review website FooDiva,
- Ian Fairservice, Founder, Managing Partner and Group Editor of Motivate Publishing, President of the UAE’s culinary association La Chaine des Rotisseurs, and member of the World Board in Paris
- Guy Hutchinson, President & CEO of Rotana
The month-long Smoke and Flames campaign is organised in partnership with Celebrity Chef Hattem Mattar -World’s 1st Arab Pitmaster, a famous Tennessee drink, Weber Middle East, Nassar Al Refaee Trading Company, Bidfood UAE, Fine Hygiene, and Restofair.
