If you go down to Centara today, you’re in for a beary big surprise—teddy-themed sleepovers are now a thing

Since opening on the Dubai Islands waterfront, Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai has established itself as one of the UAE’s most family-focused hotels.

Here, fun reigns supreme, and the air fizzes with the thrill of excited children. It’s not quiet luxury—but it is a vibrant, action-packed escape, and that’s exactly the point.

Now, Centara has upped the fun factor even further with the launch of the world’s first-ever Build-A-Bear-themed suites—a whimsical new concept created in partnership with the much-loved brand.

Five bright, bold suites have been transformed into teddy bear wonderlands, complete with playful themed décor, bunk beds, king-sized beds, and sea views.

Each suite comes with its own furry welcome committee. As we opened the door to our room, we were greeted by a giant teddy bear sprawled across the sofa—larger than my 12-year-old!

On the bed, two unstuffed bear ‘skins’ awaited the all-important transformation downstairs at the on-site Build-A-Bear Workshop. The children shrieked with delight. My husband raised an eyebrow. The tone for our stay was set.

A room built for fun

Despite the endless parade of flip-flops and beach towels, the rooms (and the entire resort) are spotlessly clean.

With over 600 guestrooms, including generously sized family rooms and suites, Centara is well equipped to host families of all sizes.

Our Build-A-Bear suite was unapologetically playful, with striped wallpaper and bold colours. The king-sized bed anchors the space, while the children’s bunk beds are cleverly tucked into an alcove—clearly the work of a family-savvy architect.

A spacious family bathroom, ample floor space for unpacked toys and books, and a wraparound balcony with views of the waterpark and the Arabian Gulf complete the setup.

Food & drink

Centara caters to all tastes—including picky eaters—with a variety of meal plans to suit every budget and appetite.

From casual bites poolside at Sands, to international buffets and a dedicated ice cream parlour, food is never far away.

For something more refined, Uno Mas, the Argentinian grill, offers excellent cuts and a grown-up vibe. Prefer to skip the crowds? Upgrade to the Mirage Lounge for a quieter breakfast, afternoon tea, and canapés (yes, with cocktails).

Nanny services are also available for those hoping to sneak in a child-free dinner.

Activities & entertainment

This is where Centara shines. Children are never bored, and parents don’t need to over-plan.

The resort’s sprawling waterpark includes lagoon pools, a lazy river, splash zones, and water slides.

The daily activities schedule is packed: aqua fitness, volleyball, water basketball, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, karaoke, and more.

In the evenings, there’s a kids’ disco, cinema under the stars, puppet shows, and a family magic show.

What was the highlight for my youngest? Cliff jumping into the pool—after dragging me up there too, gleefully yelling, “Jump, Mummy, jump!” as I hesitated on the edge. And for my husband? Collapsing into the giant teddy post-splash.

A spa for everyone

While the children are entertained, adults can unwind at SPA Cenvaree, which offers Thai-inspired therapies including massages, facials, herbal body scrubs, and foot rituals.

For younger guests, the Candy Spa is a sugar-coated delight. Oversized sweets line the walls, and treatments include chocolate facials, gummy bear scrubs, nail art, and hair braiding.

The Build-A-Bear bonus

Every themed suite includes a limited-edition bear skin, and children can take part in the Build-A-Bear heart ceremony at the workshop downstairs—choosing outfits, adding sound chips, and bringing their new friend to life.

It’s a brilliant blend of memory-making and souvenir-collecting, all wrapped in fluff. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a high-five from Bearamy, the bear mascot.

The lowdown

This is not a quiet couples’ retreat. However, if you’re travelling with children, it’s hard to beat. The excitement is infectious, the activities endless, and the screens largely forgotten.

It’s a resort built for families, and it knows exactly how to keep them happy.

The summer staycay deal

Centara’s “Kids’ Hour is the New Happy Hour” offer makes a staycay even more tempting as you get 25% off when booking 30 days in advance, and children under six stay free.

It’s a great way to beat the heat, dodge the airport queues, and give the whole family a break they’ll be talking about long after the bear goes home.
