United States, Maldives, Italy off Abu Dhabi Green List

Three other countries also removed, no change for the UK.

Six countries are now off the Abu Dhabi Green List for travellers and three others have been added.

The Green List, updated by the Department of Culture – Abu Dhabi, comes into effect at 2pm, 18 August.

The places that have lost their spot are Armenia, Austria, Israel, Italy, Maldives and the United States.

Malta, the Republic of Ireland and Sweden are the latest entrants.

The list now includes 28 countries and territories from where travellers can fly to Abu Dhabi without the need to quarantine.

Green list explained

The Abu Dhabi Green List is a list of destinations from where travellers do not have to self-isolate when they arrive in the UAE’s capital.

Compiled by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, it is continually updated based on the current COVID-19 situation in individual countries around the world.

The Green List is updated periodically in line with international health developments.

And making it onto the list requires destinations to satisfy a strict set of health and safety criteria.

This means that passengers arriving from destinations on the Green List will not have to undergo the quarantine period but will have to take a PCR test when they arrive at Abu Dhabi airport.

Arriving from a Green List country

Etihad Airways website is a great source of information in regard to entering Abu Dhabi by air.

Abu Dhabi green pass system

You will need to show your testing status on Al Hosn app to enter public places in Abu Dhabi, including hotels, restaurants, malls and large supermarkets. A negative PCR result is required for your green pass to show in Al Hosn.

Do I need to quarantine in Abu Dhabi?

You won’t need to quarantine if you’re travelling on a direct flight from a Green List country, or when you fly to or from a travel corridor country if you’ve been fully vaccinated.

For flights from all other destinations, you will be required to wear and medically approved wristband and quarantine for:

Seven days if you’ve been fully vaccinated – you received your final vaccine dose at least 28 days before your flight, as shown on your Al Hosn app

10 days if you haven’t been vaccinated

From 20 August, vaccinations taken outside the UAE will be recognised. (Sinopharm, Sinovac, Janssen, Pfizer, Sputnik V, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna). You will need to register for ICA approval before you travel. Full details can be found on the link above.

If you are flying out of Abu Dhabi and still have your medically approved wristband, in urgent cases this can now be removed at the airport provided you have a negative PCR test result before you arrive
