Abu Dhabi installs flashing speed signage for bad weather conditions

The speed limit during adverse weather conditions is 80km/h.

Drivers in Abu Dhabi will know at which speed is safe to travel in a flash with the installation of new illuminated e-panels and signage.

Erected by Abu Dhabi Police, the flashing panels will remind motorists of posted speed limits under unstable weather conditions.

Flashing 80km/h speed limit signs will be activated during rain, strong winds, sandstorms, and heavy fog to warn motorists to keep safe distance.

The police also urged motorists to regularly follow up on weather forecasts and adhere to relevant preventative measures.

It is the latest measure undertaken by the force to ensure members of the public are safe on Abu Dhabi roads.

At the beginning of the month, it was announced that new AI technology was activated to catch motorists who do not give priority to pedestrians at zebra crossings.

Drivers who fail to comply are liable to face fines up AED 500 and six traffic points.
