Abu Dhabi is launching new healthy eating campaign for restaurants and supermarkets

The logos will tell you if food has low fat, sugar and salt contents.

Healthy eating in Abu Dhabi is going to get a little bit easier thanks to a new campaign launched in the emirate.

Organised by The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), the SEHHI programme encourages residents to eat better by placing special logos on hotel menus and setting up designated display spots at groceries.

The logos will help diners identify dishes that have low fat, sugar and salt contents as well as higher fibres and calorie count.

Food outlets will also have the opportunity to input food details into a digitised platform where SEHHI can confirm if they meet their healthy eating criteria.

Participating entities will also receive guidance and a series of training to ensure the optimal implementation of the programme.

Speaking on the announcement Matar Al Nuaimi, Director-General of ADPHC said; “ADPHC is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every member of the Abu Dhabi community and nutrition undoubtedly plays a critical role in promoting overall health and has a profound impact on reducing the prevalence and burden of lifestyle diseases.

“As such, the launch of the SEHHI programme aligns with our vision towards a healthy, safe society by consolidating the efforts of various stakeholders in the ecosystem to ensure access to healthy foods and promote more informed and educated dietary choices.”
