Abu Dhabi taxis are now accepting card payment

Previously you could only pay with cash or QR code on the Abu Dhabi Taxi app.

The days of worrying about if you have enough cash or hearing the dreaded ‘platform disconnected’ are a thing of the past as you can now pay for your Abu Dhabi taxi by card.

Rolled out this week, taxi passengers will be able to pay for their journey by simply tapping a card reader that is connected to the metre or by keying in their card pin.

At the time of writing, Al Ghazal Taxis and Cars Taxis have a select number of vehicles that are offering the payment option as part of an emirate-wide trial with more companies set to install the new system.

Other cool features of the meter show how long you have spent waiting, whether at lights or in traffic which might come in handy if you are late for a get-together.

Previously, taxi passengers in Abu Dhabi could pay for the journey with cash or via the QR code on the Abu Dhabi Taxi app.
