See one of the largest precious stones in the world in Dubai

The stone weighs 2.8kg and is 8,400 carats.

We all know Dubai doesn’t do things small so it is fitting that the city debuted one of the biggest rough Rubies in the world.

Weighing in at a whopping 8,400 carats and 2.8kg in weight, the Burj Alhamal was unveiled at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in DIFC that was cut alongside side 11 other pieces from a larger stone.

Held by SJ Gold and Diamond, the ruby is scheduled to be auctioned post-Ramadan with expectation that the stole will go for around AED 432 million.

The Burj Alhamal is a part of the Callisto Collection that showcases rare stones from locations all over the world.

Speaking at the launch, Patrick Pilati, Managing Director of SJ Gold and Diamond said; “Today, we bring to you an amazing collection of rare and precious gemstones in the name of – ‘Callisto Collection’ comprising millions worth of hand-picked are gems along with the 12 unique rough rubies, weighing at a ginormous 236,000 carats, and this success wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of so many people.

“Each rough ruby, coming in diverse sizes, can be seen featured in the collection’s logo, tethered together with gold lines to form the Callisto collection’s very own constellation.
