UPDATE: Abu Dhabi-Dubai bus for Eid only, ‘could run’ during Hijri holiday

It’s back to taxis again.

Important update.

A few of our followers informed us the D81 Abu Dhabi-Dubai bus that I caught during the recent Eid break was indeed only operating for that period.

Knowing how important this transportation is for those travelling from the capital to Dubai, I made several unsuccessful telephone calls to find out if in fact the D81 was still operating.

Since I was unable to find the correct information, I decided to head down to the Abu Dhabi main bus station and speak to an official.

Sadly, he informed me that the D8 was operating just for the Eid break.  When I asked if the D81 would run its service again during the Hijri three-day weekend, he said he could do but there was no confirmation at this time.

We thought the D81 was here for the long term but there may be one running in the long weekend, from 12 August.  We cannot stress enough to check first before making any plans.

Like many of you, I don’t have a car and I am disappointed yet hope the D81 bus service resumes next weekend, even if for one weekend.

The official also said that the regular RTA Abu Dhabi bus service is not expected to return until the present border at Ghantoot is removed.

Disappointing I know and I guess it’s back to the taxi rank again!
