A major RTA project will enhance Al Fay Street with five intersections and increased capacity
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled details of the ambitious Al Fay Street development project, which aims to alleviate traffic congestion across Dubai.
With a staggering investment of AED 1.5 billion, the project will involve a complete overhaul of the road, including the construction of five major intersections to improve traffic flow significantly.
The enhancements will span from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, pass through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and extend to Emirates Road.
Designed to accommodate up to 64,400 vehicles per hour, this transformative development is set to benefit approximately 600,000 residents in the surrounding areas.
Key neighbourhoods to experience improved access include Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Tilal Al Ghaf, Damac Lagoons, The Oasis, and Remraam.

Divided into two phases, the project will focus on enhancing road capacity and traffic efficiency. The first phase will feature a two-lane bridge on Al Khail Road and a new bridge on Al Fay Street.
A key component of the first intersection is a 1,255-metre-long two-lane bridge facilitating left turns from Deira on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards Emirates Road.
With a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour, this bridge aims to streamline traffic at a critical junction.

Additionally, two bridges, each with two lanes in both directions, will span 2,040 metres and cater to traffic between Jumeirah Village Circle and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, increasing capacity by 6,400 vehicles per hour.
The second intersection will transform the roundabout between Dubai Sports City and Dubai Production City into a signal-controlled junction, complemented by a four-lane Al Fay Street bridge measuring 960 metres.
A new 780-metre service road will further facilitate traffic flow from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
Other developments include a five-lane bridge at the third intersection on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, a two-lane bridge at the fourth intersection on Emirates Road, and two additional two-lane bridges at the fifth intersection connecting Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Dubai Production City.
HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, emphasised the project’s scale and significance:
“This extensive development, featuring five intersections and multiple new bridges, is designed to ease congestion and significantly enhance traffic movement in key areas.”
