Dubai’s most famous fountain is almost ready to perform again

After a months-long closure, The Dubai Fountain, one of the city’s most iconic and Instagrammed landmarks, is nearly ready to make its long-awaited return.

Shut down since 19 April, the fountain’s 30-acre lake was drained completely to allow for a full-scale revamp.

Now, with fresh concrete flooring laid and the waters beginning to return, the stage is being set for a truly next-level comeback.

Set in the shadow of Burj Khalifa and beside Dubai Mall, the Dubai Fountain has long been a must-see for first-time visitors and seasoned residents alike.

But this time, it’s returning with a spectacular twist.

What’s new?

Expect everything to be bigger, brighter, and smarter. The upgrades include:

Advanced robotic systems that precisely control water and lighting

State-of-the-art sound and light tech for sharper visuals and crystal-clear audio

New choreography synced with powerful musical scores

A more efficient, eco-conscious design for water insulation and performance

The original fountain could launch 22,000 gallons of water into the air at heights up to 140 meters.

With the new system, that magic is about to reach new heights.

Photos taken on 22 August from the Apple Store at Dubai Mall show water slowly returning to the iconic lake, hinting that the reopening might happen before the announced 1 October deadline.

So whether you’re planning your next night out or entertaining visitors, keep your eyes on the lake.

A next-generation fountain show, unlike anything seen before in Dubai, is just around the corner.
