Dubai International Airport plans up to AED 10billion expansion

Dubai International Airport is set to reaffirm its status as one of the busiest cities in the world as the airport will receive an up to AED 10 billion makeover in the next five to seven years.

This news, along with the imminent opening of the new Midfield Terminal in Abu Dhabi, will increase tourist and business numbers coming into the UAE.

In a major change to infrastructure, this development will include new commercial partnerships, lounges, circulation space and remote gate operations.

In line with technological advancements throughout the world, many new cutting-edge features will also be added to transform DXB into a full scale ‘smart’ airport.

The short-term goal is to expand the operations at DXB but beyond that phase and with passengers in excess of 30 million annually a new airport may need to be envisaged from 2030 onwards.
