It’s been designed by world-class celebrated architect Tadao Ando
Dubai has just raised the bar for art and architecture, again.
Meet the Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA), a stunning new cultural landmark set to float gracefully above the waters of Dubai Creek.
Unveiled on 25 October, this ambitious project by the Al-Futtaim Group promises to put Dubai firmly on the global art map.
The museum is designed by Tadao Ando, the Japanese architect known for turning concrete into poetry.
The man is a Pritzker Prize winner (that’s basically the Nobel of architecture), and his signature minimalist style that plays with light and space is about to land in the UAE in the most spectacular way.
An exciting cultural hub
Dubai wants to be a magnet for artists, thinkers, and innovators from around the world, and this museum is the perfect stage.
With exhibitions, art fairs, talks, and workshops, it’s designed to inspire, educate, and connect creatives across cultures, all while showing off Dubai’s flair for pushing boundaries.
A design that wows
Prepare to have your mind blown as the museum is shaped like a giant pearl floating on water; with smooth curves and a circular exhibition hall at its heart, symbolising unity, discovery, and continuity.
A central cylindrical opening pours in natural light, making the interior shimmer like a real pearl.
The design beautifully blends Dubai’s heritage with modern architectural magic, and yes, it’s going to be an Instagram dream.

What’s inside?
DUMA rises five storeys above the creek, offering:
Adaptable exhibition galleries on the first two floors
A restaurant and VIP lounge on the third floor
Ground and basement levels dedicated to events, talks, and learning
Expect artist talks, panel discussions, educational programs, and curated events that bring the global art scene right to Dubai.
There will even be a library and study rooms for budding creatives who want to soak up knowledge and inspiration.
Embracing nature
DUMA also embraces Dubai’s natural surroundings, opening up to the sea and sky while showcasing modern and contemporary art.
This is a place where creativity, culture, and heritage collide, offering you an experience that spark curiosity, empathy, and dialogue.
About Tadao Ando
If you’re wondering who’s behind this masterpiece, it’s Tadao Ando, the minimalist genius whose concrete creations somehow feel alive.
He’s the mind behind Japan’s Chichu Art Museum, Paris’s Bourse de Commerce, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas.
And now, his magic arrives in Dubai, proving once again that the city isn’t just about skyscrapers and highlights culture and creativity, and awe-inspiring design.
