The future of eco-friendly urban travel has arrived in the city

Dubai is all set to make a bold leap in urban transportation with the launch of the innovative Rail Bus; a cutting-edge, eco-friendly mode of public transit designed to transform the way people move around the emirate.

Designed to be a futuristic marvel, this new vehicle is crafted using 3D-printing technology and recyclable materials, making it a sustainable choice for modern urban life.

Announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Rail Bus promises to elevate the city’s transport landscape, with the first model already on display at the World Government Summit 2025 in Madinat Jumeirah.

A glimpse of the future on tracks

With a sleek gold and black exterior, the Rail Bus is a sight to behold. Inside, passengers will experience comfort and convenience with two rows of bright orange seats, providing space for 40 passengers, including accommodations for those with disabilities.

The carriages are designed for both efficiency and accessibility, ensuring a smooth journey for all.

Real-time updates, such as the next stop, weather forecasts, and travel time, will be displayed on screens above the seats, keeping passengers informed and engaged throughout the ride.

Speed meets sustainability

This futuristic transport solution isn’t just about looks; it’s designed for speed and sustainability. Running on elevated tracks, the Rail Bus will glide through the city at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, ensuring quick and smooth commutes.

Its lightweight structure, made possible by 3D printing, minimizes the environmental footprint while enhancing its efficiency.

And the best part? It’s entirely powered by solar energy, which aligns perfectly with Dubai’s ambitious eco-goals.

Eco-friendly, cost-effective and autonomous

One of the most exciting features of the Rail Bus is its autonomy. This vehicle will operate without a driver, relying on advanced technology to safely navigate its route.

The system is designed to be both cost-effective and environmentally friendly, making it an ideal addition to Dubai’s existing public transportation network.

It’s also flexible, providing the perfect solution for first- and last-mile connectivity, seamlessly integrating with other public transit options to create a truly interconnected mobility experience.

A vision for the future

The Rail Bus is more than just a new mode of transport; it’s a crucial part of Dubai’s vision to become the world’s smartest city.

The project aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and Dubai’s Zero-Emissions Public Transport Strategy 2050. Additionally, it supports the Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy 2030, aiming to have 25 per cent of daily trips in the city fully autonomous.
