Thousands of party-goers will descend on the bustling city for the event so as usual Dubai Police will begin closing roads for New Year celebrations from 4pm on 31 December.
Authorities are advising people to start their trips early if they are planning to come into the busier areas of the city.
The Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s main highway, will be closed at 9pm to all kinds of traffic. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will start closing at 4pm; Upper level of the Financial Road will be closed at 8 pm and the lower level at 4pm; Al Asayel Road will also be closed at 4 pm.
Metro and tram timings
With all the road closures coming into effect, taking public transport might just be the wiser decision this New Year’s Eve in Dubai. To that end, the Dubai Metro and Tram will run for an extended period anyway.
To make the move to 2024 a smooth and traffic-free run, the metro and tram will run non-stop for 40 hours from 31 December according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Additionally, they are also planning to add a fleet of 230 buses that will be made available to the public free of charge. If you’re still taking your car out, the RTA has arranged approximately 900 additional parking spaces in Al Wasl and Al Jafiliya.
These extra parking facilities will accommodate the influx of vehicles during the New Year’s Eve festivities in Dubai.
