Fourth best place to live in the world is the UAE

More than 80 per cent feel optimistic about 2022.

The results are in and those living in the Abu Dhabi will be delighted to hear that the fourth best place to live in the world is the UAE.

The news revealed by HSBC’s Expat Explorer survey for 2021 saw the UAE jump ten places from last year’s study which ranks living, aspirations, future outlook and overall outlook of life.

Some 82 per cent of expats living in the UAE felt optimistic that life will return to normal over the next 12 months with 86 per cent saying their quality of life in UAE is better than in their home country.

Fifty-three per cent of UAE residents also expect a pay-rise with 57 per cent believing their work/life balance will improve.

Only 11 per cent said the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted their plans of staying in the UAE.

Ahead of the UAE in the rankings is Switzerland in first place, Australia in second place and New Zealand in third.

Chief executive of HSBC UAE Abdulfattah Sharaf said the results from the study shows there is great confidence in the UAE’s recovery and potential.

He said: “The UAE being billed among the top five best places to live and work globally is inspiring and a clear indication of the huge potential that drives this country’s economy.

“The connectivity of the economy combined with the scale of its vision has transformed it from a small fishing and pearling port in the 1940s into a global trade, logistics, shipping, aviation, business and finance hub today.

“The country’s focus on innovation, infrastructure, quality of life, diversity and inclusion have made it the destination of choice for businesses and professionals looking to grow and prosper.”

The UAE is the highest-ranking country in the Middle East with Bahrain and Qatar being placed in eighth and tenth position respectively.

Some 20,000 expats living in 48 markets took part in the survey.
