EID AL-FITR 2023: Dubai announces free parking and timings for Metro and Tram

Residents can avail of free parking for four or five days from Thursday

Residents can now enjoy the Eid al-Fitr festivities without the added stress of needing to find a parking spot in Dubai after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced free parking during the Eid holiday. This, however, does not include multi-level parking terminals.

Free parking will start on Thursday, 20 April, and will run for four or five days, depending on when the Moon is sighted to mark the start of the Eid festival.

The UAE earlier announced Eid al-Fitr holidays for both public and private sector employees to start on Thursday until Shawwal 3. If the Moon is sighted on Thursday, the first day of Shawwal will be on Friday, which means a four-day weekend, with employees returning to work on Monday.

Otherwise, it will be a five-day weekend from Thursday to  Monday if the first day of Shawwal falls on Saturday.

Metro and Tram

The RTA also announced timings for the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram during the holiday.

The Metro Red and Green lines will operate 5am to 1am the following day from Thursday to Saturday, and 8am to 1am the following day on Sunday.

Dubai Tram will operate 6am to 1am the following day from Thursday to Saturday, and 9am to 1am the following day on Sunday.

Public buses

Public bus stations in Dubai will be open from 6am to 1am the following day during the holiday, while the timings of the Metro feeder bus stations will be synchronised with the first and last Metro journeys.

Marine transport

The Water Bus will be operational from 11am to 11.43pm for the Dubai Marina (BM1) Marina Mall – Marina Walk (and vice versa) route, from 1.56pm to 10.43pm for the Marina Promenade – Marina Mall route, and from 2pm to 10.46 pm for the Marina Terrace – Marina Walk route. The full route will be available from 4.50pm to 10.20pm.

With a long weekend ahead, Dubai comes alive with plenty of fun things to do for everyone. Looking for something new to try this Eid? The Dubai Crocodile Park will open this week and is sure worth a visit for the entire family.
