Motorists, traffic’s about to ease up on Hessa Street

Hessa Street Dubai

It’s a hopeful end of two-hour-long commutes!

If you frequently commute to Dubai, you know all about being stuck on the roads for hours on end.

However, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is about to put a stop to that!

A contract worth AED 689 million has been assigned for a major project aimed at easing traffic along the dreaded Hessa Street.

Running 4.5 km from the intersection with Sheikh Zayed Road to the intersection with Al Khail Road, the main objective is to revamp four major intersections namely, Sheikh Zayed Road, First Al Khail Street, Al Asayel Street, and Al Khail Road.

So what does this mean for motorists?

Four lanes in each direction on Hessa Street, boosting its capacity by 100 per cent to accommodate 8,000 vehicles per hour.

A 13.5 km cycling track, as well as two bridges for cyclists and pedestrians.

The track will connect Al Sufouh to Dubai Hills via Hessa Street, serving residential areas like Al Sufouh, Al Barsha, and Barsha Heights.

It will improve the first and last-mile connectivity by linking with the Dubai Internet City Metro Station along with commercial and service destinations in the vicinity.

Yay!
