English football giants partner up with Abu Dhabi companies

Man City strengthens ties with the capital.

It’s exciting times to be a football fan in Abu Dhabi with the FIFA Club World Cup 2021 on the horizon and the city’s Premier League side, Manchester City, galloping clear in the title race.

And there is more good news particularly if you are a fan of the aforementioned Citizens as the Eastlands club has scored two major partnerships in the city.

First up, Emirates Palace, the legendary Abu Dhabi hotel on the Corniche, has become the football club’s official luxury hotel partner.

The partnership will see the hotel’s brand featured across a number of the Manchester City’s assets including the Etihad Stadium, training ground and training kit.

The deal continues the burgeoning relationship between the football club and the five-star hotel with Man City’s first team using the hotel as a base for warm weather and the club’s football school based in Abu Dhabi using the pitch facilities for educational and community sessions with children in the region.

Michael Koth, General Manager and Area Vice President Operations Middle East, Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi said, “The partnership with Manchester City reinforces Emirates Palace’s position as the ultimate destination for sports, leisure and recreational facilities in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

“With our FIFA-approved football pitch and other award-winning facilities, we are excited to be the training ground for the English Premier League Club and to host educational and training sessions for sports enthusiasts and children and of the region.”

The second deal netted by Abu Dhabi with the Premier League champions was by Masdar.

The renewable energy and sustainable development company will become the official partner of the club from the 2022/2023 onwards.

The new agreement will see a range of partnership activations including the launch of a new global campaign, aimed at raising awareness on the importance of climate action which will coincide with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on 15 to 19 January.

CEO of Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, said the partnership is an opportunity for both parties to deliver a sustainable future.

But it isn’t the only major news on the football front in Abu Dhabi.

FIFA have confirmed the release of an extra batch of tickets for February’s FIFA Club World Cup 2021.

Huge names in the world of football like Chelsea and Palmeiras will descend on the capital to find out who is the best club side in the world.
