This is great news for those living in central Abu Dhabi who don’t have their own transport
It’s not long now until Abu’s Dhabi’s second IKEA store opens in the capital, with November 2020 slated as the grand opening.
The new IKEA will be located in Al Wahda Mall, close to Abu Dhabi’s main bus station. The store was originally planned to open in July 2020, but due to the pandemic the date was pushed back till November.
The second branch in Abu Dhabi and its fifth across the Emirates, IKEA’s latest Abu Dhabi store will span more than 2,000 square metres in size, which isn’t as large as the one located on Yas Island. However, the new store’s central location in central Abu Dhabi will make it more accessible for many of those who live in the city and who may not have their own transport.
The launch of Abu Dhabi’s second IKEA store was initially agreed in a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this year, which was signed between Wajeb Al Khoury, director of Line Investments and Property (the shopping mall development and management division of LuLu Group) and Vinod Jayan, managing director of Al-Futtaim IKEA, in the presence of Ashraf Ali M.A, executive Director of LuLu Group, in a special function held at LuLu Group Regional Office in Dubai.
Located on the first level of Al Wahda Mall, the new store will feature its category-based product collections along with the popular food offerings of classic restaurant delights and Swedish treats in a sit-down setting.
So, with screwdrivers at the ready, it’s time to brace ourselves for those Swedish culinary delights before we start to tackle those flatpacks!
