Dubai set to lead the way in traffic safety with new pedestrian system

The Road Traffic Authority in Dubai are bidding to put a ‘STOP’ to dangerous driving after introducing new safer routes for pedestrians at lighting systems in the city.

The initiative has also been implemented to encourage people to walk more reducing emissions and to help reduce traffic accidents and potential fatalities.

The advanced new system senses the movement of people on the pavement before they attempt to cross the street and automatically changes the signals light to alert oncoming drivers.

After completing testing on the new revelationairy system on Saada street at the Dubai International Financial Centre, the RTA are hopeful that it will reduce waiting times at the pedestrian lights and also foster safer commuting.

Look left, look right…..and look to Dubai for future advancements in road technology.
