New fines in place for Dubai drivers

New Traffic Fines In Dubai

Fines of up to AED 100,00 are in effect, with some new measures as well

Drivers in Dubai, take heed of these fines!

Implemented since 6 July, stricter penalties will be enforced on vehicle impounds in the emirate, with fines up to AED 100,000 to release vehicles.

The rules have come in accordance with new decree amendments issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

There’s an AED 10,000 fine to release impounded vehicles in the following categories:

  • Unauthorised modifications to the vehicle to increase speed or noise
  • Evading police officers
  • Driving recklessly or in a manner that compromises the safety of others

There’s an AED 50,000 fine to release vehicles impounded for driving a recreational motorcycle on paved roads

And finally, a fine of AED 100,000 must be paid to release vehicles impounded for participating in a road race without prior permission from the police.

Additionally, new measures have also been put into place to ensure further traffic safety.

Non-UAE nationals jumping a red light in a heavy vehicle will be administratively deported from the UAE.

If your vehicle has traffic fines exceeding AED 6,000, it will be impounded, and released only upon payment of all fines.

If your driver’s licence is over 3 months past its expiry, without any valid reason, your vehicle will be impounded as well. A fine of AED 50 per day will also be charged to owners who have not claimed their vehicle after the expiry of its impound period.

Drive safe!
