New rules have been released in Dubai which will see your car being impounded for thirty days if you are caught using your phone while driving.

Dubai Police has introduced new vehicle impounding rules, enforcing stricter penalties for traffic violations in a bid to reduce accidents and promote safer driving.

These rules target distracted driving, sudden deviations, and other dangerous driving behaviors on the road.

Perhaps the most eye-catching change is a 30-day impounding for drivers caught using mobile phones or other devices while driving, as this poses a major risk to road safety. This measure reflects the city’s commitment to minimising distracted driving incidents.

Additional penalties include:

  • 30 days of impounding for sudden deviation or failure to maintain a safe distance.
  • 14 days of impounding for failing to adhere to lane discipline or entering the road without checking for clearance.
  • 30 days of impounding for heavy vehicles violating lane rules.

These rules, based on Decree No. 29 of 2015, are designed to ensure that all road users adhere to safety measures, ultimately fostering safer roads across Dubai.

Keep safe everyone!
