No need for UK quarantine for UAE travellers?

Technical issue delaying the announcement.

UK expats may be able to travel home without the need to quarantine as early as 4 October it has been revealed.

It is expected the UAE is to join 17 other countries whose vaccine certificates are accepted for entry into the UK.

According to the British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, the reason why the UAE was kept off the list of countries from where vaccinated travellers could enter without the mandatory quarantine was due to the absence of a date of birth.

Speaking to British sources, Mr Shapps said that this “technical issue” would be resolved very soon and that the UAE’s vaccine programme was not different to the vaccine campaigns of the 17 cleared countries.

His comments follow last Friday’s announcement by the UK that travellers who have been vaccinated for at least 14 days under approved vaccination rollouts overseas will not need a pre-departure PCR test to return to the UK.

The countries on the approved list were Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.
