UAE passengers travelling to UK need pre-departure PCR test

A further test will be needed within two days of arrival.

Are you travelling to the UK from the UAE anytime soon?

Well to board the plane you will have to ensure that you have conducted a pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test.

The safety measures which come into effect on Tuesday 7 December, will see all travellers to England, regardless of vaccination status, required to take a Covid-19 PCR test no more than 48 hours before their flight.

The announcement comes as UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said the UK government decided to move after receiving new data about the contagiousness of the new Omicron variant first discovered in southern Africa.

The news follows hot on the heels that all travellers from the UAE must conduct a PCR test within the first two days of arrival in the UK.

The UAE has also ramped up its safety measures in the past week with the announcement that the Al Hosn green pass will only be valid for 14 days.

The UAE authorities has also banned entry for passengers originating or transiting through seven southern African countries including Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
