Philippines to lift UAE flight ban

Nine other countries to have ban removed.

The Philippines is set to lift the UAE flight ban, along with nine other countries, announced a spokesperson for the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Philippines is also lifting a ban from nine other countries, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The ban was introduced in April 2021 and expanded to more countries in July to prevent the spread of the more contagious Delta variant,  but will now be lifted on Monday, 6 September,  presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

Those travelling from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia will now have to spend 14 days in quarantine upon arrival, Roque said.
