Last month, the COP28 proceedings took a new turn with Abu Dhabi announcing a global summit for religious leaders ahead of the event.

To be taking place from 6-7 November, the summit would discuss the role of faith leaders with respect to climate change.

In that vein, Pope Francis has now been officially briefed on the preparations for the Faith Pavilion at the upcoming conference.

The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Mohamed Abdel Salam undertook the task in Rome.

The two discussed plans for the pavilion, which aims to be a global platform for dialogue between leaders of different religions and to involve them in efforts to address climate change.

Earlier this month, the COP28 President-designate met with the head of the Catholic church to discuss the crucial role of faith leaders in advancing the climate agenda at the upcoming summit in the UAE.

Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, met with Pope Francis during his visit to the Vatican last week.

Here’s your chance to potentially catch the Pope if you haven’t yet!
