Requirement to wear home quarantine wristband removed

Measure is effective 19 September.

Travellers arriving into Abu Dhabi International Airport will no longer have to wear a wristband tracker during their home quarantine period.

Effective today (Sunday 19 September), unvaccinated passengers arriving from red list countries as well as those who have come into contact with a positive COVID-19 case will not be fitted with a GPS quarantine wristband.

However, those who have contracted COVID-19 will have to wear a wristband during their quarantine period.

The measure was introduced in September 2020 in attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the emirate.

Authorities said procedures and required testing schedules as well as monitoring by healthcare systems to ensure compliance with precautionary measures will continue.

The announcement follows hot on the heels from the decision to remove the COVID-19 testing requirement to cross the border into Abu Dhabi.
