Dubai buses are taking public transport game to the next level!

Following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai is all set to roll out a bunch of new buses designed to make getting around town easier and greener.

And guess what?

There are going to be 636 of them, arriving in 2024 and 2025.

These aren’t just any buses. We’re talking 40 electric ones – the first of their kind in the UAE!

This move is part of a grand plan to up Dubai’s cool factor as a global hub and hit those ambitious Dubai Urban Plan 2040 targets.

Plus, it’s all happening under the watchful eye of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Mattar Al Tayer from the RTA (that’s the Roads and Transport Authority) is super excited about this upgrade.

He says it’s all about making public transport the top choice for getting around, aiming for 25 per cent of all journeys by 2030.

And with these new buses meeting the Euro 6 low emission standards, they’re right on track to help Dubai hit its net-zero emissions by 2050.

What news features can you expect on the new Dubai buses?

These buses come packed with features.

Think driver behaviour monitoring systems (so everyone’s safer), automated passenger counting (bye-bye fare dodgers), comfy seating, Wi-Fi, and phone charging points.

There are even bike racks and special seats for kids. Plus, they’re designed to be super accessible, with low floors for easy boarding.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, the head honcho at the Public Transport Agency, says they picked these buses to meet the latest global standards.

They’re all about sustainability, efficiency, and top-notch service for everyone hopping on board.

So, get ready, Dubai! These new buses are about to make your commute a whole lot cooler.
