RTA rolls out new initiatives to improve cleanliness, comfort and passenger satisfaction
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is giving taxis a sparkling makeover, setting a new standard in cleanliness, comfort, and passenger satisfaction.
With a series of innovative measures, the RTA aims to transform the taxi experience into a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable ride for all.
At the heart of this initiative is a pilot programme introducing high-quality air fresheners in over 500 airport taxis. Think fresher rides, even after a long flight!
To ensure every taxi shines, the RTA is ramping up inspection campaigns and leveraging AI-based technology to monitor smoking inside vehicles; because nothing ruins a ride faster than lingering odors.
But it’s not just the cars getting a spruce-up. Taxi drivers are undergoing intensified awareness and training programmes, with a strong focus on vehicle hygiene.
Regular evaluations will keep cleanliness in check, thanks to a new operational index that tracks both car and driver standards.

For those curious about results, the RTA will deliver monthly reports tracking cleanliness data from 100,000 Hala Taxi trips.
Add in customer satisfaction surveys and mystery shopper assessments – scheduled to roll out semi-annually in 2025 – and Dubai taxis are poised to become the cleanest in the region.
Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the RTA, stated that these efforts align with Dubai’s vision for a sustainable and clean environment, emphasizing innovation and excellence in transport services.
With these initiatives in motion, catching a cab in Dubai promises to be a breath of fresh air; literally!
