Spoiler alert: Some of you will now be able to take your e-scooters on the Dubai Metro or Tram within specific parameters
Good news for e-scooter drivers! Following the ban on the same earlier this year, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has updated its rules and guidelines for passengers bringing e-scooters on the Dubai Metro or Tram.
Essentially, if you follow these guidelines to the letter, you should be good.
All e-scooters must weigh less than 20kg and be no larger than 120cm x 70cm x 40cm to fall within the permissible category.
Passengers are not permitted to charge their e-scooter on the Dubai Metro or Tram, nor are they allowed to ride the e-scooters, either when onboard, or at the stations or the footbridges.

The RTA said all e-scooters must be folded when entering stations, platforms and onboard.
Passengers are also being warned that they must not block or obstruct any doors, seats, aisles or emergency equipment with their e-scooters.
Posting on social media platform X the RTA said: “In line with #RTA’s efforts to enhance the commuter experience in #Dubai, updated rules and guidelines have been implemented for passengers who wish to bring their e-scooter while travelling on Dubai Metro or Tram.
Make sure to fold your e-scooter and place it in the designated areas, and never ride it inside the stations.”
