The action starts on Sunday 19 October.

Listen up cricket fans as we have news that will have you soaring like a ball smacked by Virat Kohli into the stands for six.

Tickets for the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup are now on sale with prices for matches in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium starting from AED 75.

The tournament which will be held in the UAE and Oman after the decision was taken in June to shift it from the original host country, India, due to a serious rise in COVID-19 cases, will see the first ball bowled on Sunday 19 October between Papua New Guinea and Oman.

The cricket jamboree will see the world’s best 16 teams with bat and ball compete for the title of world champion in the sport’s shortest international format.

Eight teams will battle it out in the preliminary stage of the competition, including cricket heavyweights Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as well as Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea.

Games will be staged at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah and over the border at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat.

It will be third major cricket competition to be held in the UAE after the completion of the Pakistani Super League in June and the ongoing Indian Premier League.
